]]>As someone who completed a Triathlon last May, I can attest to the fact that high-tech cushioning improves the whole experience as it makes both training and racing more enjoyable.
Most bike shops can assist with measurements and finding the optimal position to ride. A Pedalshed Endurance Cover is an excellent addition to any bike you're training on, whether it's in the gym, at home, outside or on a track, as it allows you to focus on your training instead of thinking of discomfort.
Another key benefit of using a Pedalshed Endurance Cover for a Triathlon is that you no longer need to wear a trisuit and swim, bike and run with a wet pad, instead you are literally covered for padding on the bike seat instead!
Regular cycling and running shorts without padding are sufficient as long as your saddle is covered with Pedalshed's technology to ensure optimal comfort.

3. Test some saddles within your size and shape category with different types of perineal cut outs and channels. This is to protect your soft tissue area. There are so many styles of saddles out there the only way to find your best fit - is to try them! We are all different shapes and sizes and there is no one size fits all!
Other factors to consider:
How much padding do you need? Depending on your ride duration, if longer than 30km at a time, foam will tire and you will end up hurting in areas you want to protect.
What type of saddle covering?
Synthetic vs leather, mobile vs grip! You may want to be able to move in your saddle if you are moving position over your handlebars. While a more relaxed bike you may prefer to sit in a seat with a bit more grip.
There is also flexibility of material, weight of the saddle and of course cost to consider when choosing the right saddle.
Finally, dont let anyone choose a saddle for you as it's personal and only you can decide if its comfortable for you or not!
Whether you have the right saddle fit or not yet, our endurance saddle covers are made with long lasting high density foam technology which supports all shapes and sizes, helping both blood flow and air circulation during cycling and has shock absorption properties as well as being quick drying and bacteriostatic (anti odour & antibacterial) helping you get on with your ride in comfort.

In brief there are 3 main cycling positions which will determine THE RIGHT SHAPE SADDLE for you.
Sports – 45°, which are the very narrow saddles, generally ranging between 125mm – 170mm wide depending on your sit bone measure.
Moderate – 60°, which will have a slightly wider saddle between 145mm – 196mm wide.
Relaxed – 90°, or sit up and beg bikes, where you are sitting upright. These bicycles are not intended for long distance riding and so are well suited for the wider and more comfortable saddle usually containing foam. These saddles are anything from 160mm wide upwards, but often around the 200mm - 230mm mark.
This is an abreviated measure in order to be a helpful tool. There are other riding positions, particularly for athletes, which tend to be more acute than 45° as the rider will be aiming for aerodynamics and efficiency. These saddles will get longer and narrower the closer to the handlebars the rider tilts.
]]>1. Measure the distance between your Sit Bones, also known as Ischial Tuberosity. This is to find the RIGHT SIZE SADDLE for you to ensure you get adequate support - anatomical.
Some bike shops provide the technology to measure you in their store either by sitting on a gel seat or using a digital measure, however you can DIY at home. Simply take a piece of cardboard, place it on a hard surface like a bench or stool and sit on it with your knees at a 90° angle. Then raise your heels up for a few seconds until you feel your sit bones have made an impression on the cardboard. Stand up and use a marker to find the middle of the 2 indentations you have made on the cardboard. Mark them with a dot. Use a tape measure or ruler to measure the distance between these two dots and this is your Ischial distance which will gage if you need a small, medium or large saddle size (width). Please note, a lot of women are 130mm or more irrelevant of their body size, because anatomically they need to have a wider structure to ensure humanity carries on…
Below are Sit Bone Measurements and approximate saddle sizes to aim for: BUT, please remember to incorporate riding position as well (see step 2.) as this will help determine the Saddle Shape for you.
Small = < 110mm (Saddle sizes 125mm - 170mm)
Medium = 110 – 130mm (Saddle sizes 145mm - 195mm)
Large = > 130mm (Saddle sizes 160mm - 225mm)
We have not included measurements for "Cruise" saddles which go up to as wide as 335mm and are not regarded as long distance cycling saddles.

]]>One of cycling’s clearest mental benefits is its effect on mood.
So many emotions can come up after cycling. It's the result of the chemicals that release in our brains.
Serotonin, Dopamine and Phenylethylamine are all at play after we've been pedalling, which is why we generally feel so good afterwards.

]]>2. Saddle Comfort & Position
3. Planning
4. Training
5. Fuel & Nutrition
The above points are all vital to ensure a good race and to minimise injury on the way. There is lots of information readily available for each point but key point 2 is where Pedalshed can help you succeed - SADDLE COMFORT!
Having completed a Triathlon in May last year and put our endurance covers to the ultimate test, there is no doubt that having the added high-tech cushioning in place has made both training and racing that much more enjoyable and pleasurable.
Ensuring your saddle hight and bike setup is correct for you is also fundamental. Most bike shops will help you measure and find the accurate position for you. Well worth your time at the beginning of your training! Likewise, add a pedalshed endurance cover to any bike you are training on, in the gym, at home, outside or on the track - never ride without it!
Another massive added bonus with using a Pedalshed Endurance Cover for a Triathlon, is that you don't have to swim, bike and run wearing a wet pad! Regular cycling shorts without any padding are perfectly sufficient if your saddle is covered with the tecchnology to ensure your optimal comfort.

]]>Whether your transport choice is walking, running, cycling, by ebike or scooter, Decathlon has come out with a simple online gadget to help you gage the time, distance, calory count and the amount of CO2 and money you save by choosing a healthy mode of transport instead of taking the tube.
They have used the London underground map as a baseline so you can select the stations you might otherwise have used if taking the underground.
Thanks Decathlon!
]]>Boris Johnson has set up a new scheme to encourage people across England to get their old bikes out of the shed and repaired and onto the road again. A further effort to get peple on their bikes as a mode of transport and also in support of a better lifestyle choice. We at Pedalshed are delighted to hear this news and want to help spread the word. Bike Is Best!
The scheme is open to anyone who has an unused cycle which needs repairing.
