Join us tomorrow for an eventful day!
The annual, Friends of Brompton Cemetery Open Day
Sunday 6th September 2026
11am-5pm. Admission Free.
There will be lots of activities and entertainment going on, as well as a variety of stalls selling products and crafts, from local honey and illustrated maps, to Beatrix Potter books, baskets, quilts, and bicycle accessories!
Free attractions include:
- Birds of Prey behind the Chapel - Talks at 11:30 and 2:30
- Brompton Bees on the main aisle - and Beekeeping Tours of the Cemetery's beehives (more info)
- Children's Storytelling in the Chapel - Start times: 12:00, 12:30, 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30 (more info)
- The Royal Parks Learning Team with children’s activities near the cafe
- The Chelsea Pensioners - short tour and talk of their Memorial at the following times: 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30
- Performances by Beat Poetry Comedy Duo, The Antipoet, below the Bell Tower under the colonnades at 12:00 and 2.30

CATACOMBS TOURS: Do not miss this rare opportunity to visit Brompton Cemetery’s atmospheric Catacombs.
Tours take place every 30 minutes throughout the day from 11:00-17.30.
Meet at the Open Day Tour Desk in the Great Circle, just off the Central Avenue and a short walk from the Chapel.
GENERAL CEMETERY TOURS: Join a tour of this historic cemetery with one of our experienced and knowledgeable guides. Discover the fascinating history of Brompton Cemetery and the many famous people buried here.

Meet in front of the Chapel.
TREE WALK TOUR: Starts at 11:30. Tour lasts approx. 60 minutes.
In this fascinating tour you will gain a unique insight into the history, roles and stories surrounding the trees in the Cemetery. Led by Roy Vickery, an experienced researcher and lecturer on plant folklore.
Meet outside the North Lodge Information Centre, Brompton Cemetery (Old Brompton Road entrance).
HERBAL HERITAGE - MEDICINAL AND OTHER USES OF CEMETERY PLANTS: Starts at 13:30. Tour lasts approx. 60 minutes.
In this tour you will learn about the flora of the Cemetery, how these plants have been used over the ages, and the folklore and stories they feature in. Led by Roy Vickery, an experienced researcher and lecturer on plant folklore.
Meet at the North Lodge Information Centre, Brompton Cemetery (Old Brompton Road entrance).
ARTISTS, MODELS & COLLECTORS OF ART: Starts at 14:30. Tour lasts approx. 60 minutes.
Brompton Cemetery is the home of several notable 19th century and later artists, along with their models and art critics, plus some significant connoisseurs whose collections have enriched London's famous galleries. Hear graveside accounts of the human interactions between them all and see illustrations of their work. Led by Robert Stephenson, a qualified City of London Culture and Heritage guide.

CREATIVE, INSPIRATIONAL WOMEN: Starts at 15:30. Tours lasts approx. 60 minutes.
Join Caroline Ellis for a tour round the cemetery and hear about the creative side of some of the inspirational women buried there. These are the women we do not often talk about, and it will give us a chance to celebrate their many accomplishments.
Meet at the North Lodge Information Centre, Brompton Cemetery (Old Brompton Road entrance).
BEEKEEPING TOURS: Tours take place at 11:30, 13:00, 14:30, 16:30. Tours last approx. 35-45 minutes. As well as showing their bees on their stand and selling their own products, including beeswax candles and delicious natural honey, Bee Urban will be doing tours of our very own Brompton Cemetery beehives. Tours of the Apiary consist of a talk and briefing about honey bees and the purpose/role of the beekeeper. Then a guided tour of the apiary with a lead hive inspection by the Brompton Cemetery Beekeeper. Prior to the inspection participants will be given a beekeeping suit with gloves to wear during the hive inspection and then have a honey tasting.
Meet at the Bee Urban stall (on the central aisle close to the colonnades) 5-10 minutes before the tour.
Tickets can be purchased tomorrow, (subject to availability) at the under-noted locations. Both cash and cards are accepted.
Tickets for our General Tours and Catacomb Tours cost £10 and can be bought from the Tour Desk in the Great Circle, just off the Central Avenue and a short walk from the Chapel.
Tickets for the Beekeeping Tours cost £10 per adult (discounts for children) and can be bought at the Bee Urban stall. Maximum of 15 people per tour.
Tickets for all other Specialist Tours cost £10 and can be bought at the North Lodge Information Centre (Old Brompton Road entrance).
*Please note that should you wish to buy tickets on the day for our tour ‘Artists, Models and Collectors of Art’ at 14:30, you should allow sufficient time to purchase your tickets at the North Lodge Information Centre and then walk to the tour starting point in front of the Chapel (approx 10 minutes)
